Symptoms we hear

  • Freight-to-Sales keeps creeping up and nobody can explain why
  • Accessorials, detention, and demurrage grow faster than volume
  • Carriers reject tenders and loads go to spot at a premium
  • You suspect duplicate or incorrect freight payments but can't prove it

How we work

Our approach

01

Assess

Baseline Freight-to-Sales, unit costs, accessorial ratio, and 24 months of shipment, invoice, and payment data. Run Verdon's 10 duplicate-billing tests.

02

Design

Segment spend, set the sourcing calendar and pricing mechanism, and tighten contract clauses for fuel, accessorials, free time, and billing deadlines.

03

Implement

Run sourcing events, verify rate loads, launch carrier and freight-audit scorecards, and recover overpayments.

The headline KPI

Freight-to-Sales tells the CFO how many cents of every revenue dollar go to moving product.

Freight-to-Sales (%) = Total freight cost ÷ Net sales × 100

Used alone it can mislead: a price increase lowers it with no freight improvement. We pair it with cost per unit, accessorial ratio, and premium freight share, and split every variance into rate, volume, mix, and fuel.
